Static were the hottest unsigned band in Glasgow for a few weeks in the summer of 1991. Long before MySpace, ITunes and throwaway CD's, Static's early demo cassettes had the critics crying out for more and left a few sensitive souls weak at the knees.
Blazing a trail with their fx laden dreamscapes, spiraling staccato loops and experimental dub, Static burned brightly before fading into the mists of dry ice at the tail end of 1992. Shortly afterwards other Glasgow sound shifters Mogwai, Fenn and A.C. Acoustics were soon bending the nations ears while the boys from Static slowly faded into the forgotten past.
This site contains examples of the band’s music, critical reaction from the time and photos, flyers and artwork from their short time as Glasgow's premier aural
architects.
